About Sofie Sjöström, the designer

During the past 15 years Sofie Sjöström has established herself as a leader on the Swedish design scene. After graduating in 1997 as an industrial designer from Umeå Institute of Design and being awarded the coveted prize of “Best Graduating Design Student” in Sweden she started Futur industridesign AB and began her career as a freelance designer. Sjöström has developed products, furniture and concepts from cell phone accessories to airplane seats. In the year 2000 she won a competition to design seats for Scandinavian Airlines, SAS. In 2001 she was awarded the “Excellent Swedish Design” prize for her cell phone accessory for the hearing impaired. In 2004 she was asked to sit as a jury member during the prestigious Spring Salon “Formbart” held at Liljevalchs Art Exhibition, Stockholm, Sweden.

In 2009 Sjöström launched her own brand Sofie Sjöström™ (www.SofieSjostrom.se) and took control of the whole process from design to production to sale. Her brand includes textile products and accessories for the home.
